Magnetic Powder Testing: From Raw Powder to Full Results
Discover how structured magnetic powder testing helped generate complete magnetic properties by combining Fluxmeter and DC Electromagnet testing with proper sample preparation.
The material received for testing was in powder form, and the objective was to determine key magnetic properties including Remanence (Br), Saturation, Coercivity (Hc), and Maximum Energy Product (BHmax). However, due to the absence of a defined shape and magnetic path, powder samples cannot produce a complete B–H hysteresis loop required for measuring all magnetic parameters. Therefore, a suitable sample preparation method and testing approach were required to accurately characterize the magnetic properties of the material.
The Challenges
The powder material was converted into a compact pallet using pressing method to create a defined magnetic path.
