The Value of Time and Understanding
Magnetic testing of electrical steel using an Epstein tester for electrical steel can technically be completed in about thirty minutes. The process is structured, precise, and standardized.
But what truly creates value is not the time taken to perform the test — it is the time invested in understanding the customer.
A customer approached us with a single sheet of electrical steel for 50 Hz magnetic testing. While the testing procedure with an Epstein tester for electrical steel was straightforward, there was uncertainty around strip preparation, orientation, dimensions, and fixture compatibility. For the customer, these were not small doubts. Incorrect strip cutting could influence magnetic testing results and create confusion when interpreting B–H loop data from the Epstein tester for electrical steel.
Instead of moving directly to testing, we chose to invest time in discussion. We explained why 8 longitudinal and 8 transverse strips are required, how rolling direction affects magnetic testing, and why dimensional accuracy directly impacts magnetic testing outcomes.
The actual magnetic testing required only a short operational window. The greater effort was spent in aligning expectations and building clarity.
Reliable data was generated using the Epstein tester for electrical steel, but something more important was achieved — confidence.
This experience reminded us that in technical services, time is not just a resource; it is an investment. Testing delivers results. Time builds relationships.
And sometimes, the strongest outcome is not just accurate magnetic testing — but the trust that grows when understanding comes first.
