A leading automotive component manufacturer initiated a vendor development program following China’s restrictions
on magnet exports, which posed a significant supply chain risk. Traditionally, the manufacturer had relied on magnets
sourced from China. With supply uncertainty increasing, they identified an alternate supplier and required reliable
magnetic testing to compare the magnetic performance of the alternate supplier’s material against established China-
sourced magnets before approving the new vendor.

At this qualification stage, any inconsistency in magnetic behavior or misinterpretation of results could directly impact
product performance and R&D costs.

The customer defined 20 critical parameters for vendor comparison and qualification.
While several parameters were already well understood, 3–4 key magnetic parameters required deeper technical study,
interpretation, and correlation based on additional application-specific inputs provided by the customer.
To address these challenges, we adopted a structured and transparent technical approach:

• Conducted three rounds of detailed technical discussions to align on methodology, sample preparation, parameter
  interpretation, and reporting formats
• Designed a controlled validation plan covering 350 samples tested across three batches, enabling batch-to-batch
  comparison and assessment of material stability
• Ensured correlation between known reference data (China-sourced magnets) and the deeply studied parameters of
  the alternate supplier

Initial pilot testing was performed to validate the testing methodology and process capability. Throughout the project,
continuous follow-ups and easily accessible technical support ensured transparency, timely clarifications, and
consistent execution. This proactive engagement helped the customer clearly understand observed variations and their
relevance to application performance.
